From the CEO’s desk: Heading into peak season
As we move further into April, we are entering one of the most critical operating windows of the year. Demand is building, group and leisure travel are accelerating and hotels across our portfolios are preparing for the pace and pressure that comes with the summer season.
What the industry is telling us is clear. While the labor environment has shown signs of stabilization compared to the past few years, the underlying challenges have not gone away. Hotels are seeing improved applicant flow and more balanced hiring conditions, yet operators continue to prepare for disruption by maintaining access to contract and interim labor as a safeguard against gaps in execution.
At the same time, broader workforce data reinforces that this is not a short-term issue. Approximately 65 percent of hotels continue to report ongoing staffing shortages and turnover remains elevated even as wage growth has slowed.
This is the environment our clients are operating in as they head into peak season.
For hotel leaders, this creates a very specific challenge. Demand is predictable, labor is not.
This is where interim talent has become essential, not optional.
Across the industry, we are seeing a shift in how hotels approach staffing. The focus is no longer on simply hiring faster or increasing headcount. The operators who are performing are the ones building flexibility into their labor model using experienced interim professionals to stabilize operations, protect service delivery and support leadership teams through periods of high demand and transition.
This is exactly where THS is positioned.
Our role is to provide immediate, experienced support at the moments that matter most. As occupancy rises and service expectations increase, our clients rely on us to step in with professionals who can execute without disruption, integrate quickly into teams and elevate the operation from day one.
For those of you in the field, this season is where your impact is most visible.
You are not filling a schedule gap. You are reinforcing leadership teams, maintaining brand standards and ensuring that guest experience does not decline under pressure. In many cases, you are the difference between a property keeping pace with demand or falling behind it.
The reality is that hotels are operating with leaner structures than in years past. Even with some stabilization in hiring, the margin for error remains narrow. When demand spikes, there is little room to absorb inconsistency. That is why interim talent continues to be a critical component of how hotels plan for and execute peak periods.
As we move into the summer months, I would ask each of you to approach your assignments with this perspective. You are an extension of THS, and more importantly, a strategic partner to the property you support. Your ability to step in, lead and execute is what strengthens our relationships and drives continued demand for our services.
Thank you for the consistency, professionalism and adaptability you bring to every assignment. This is the season where it all comes together and your work is what allows our clients to perform at the level their guests expect.

Katie Schorn
