Consultant of the Month

Each month THS gives the Consultant of the Month award to someone working in the field. In addition to this spotlight article in Transformation Post, the honoree receives a gift box and gift card.

THS is pleased to announce that the February Consultant of the Month is David Randall.

Dave, a seasoned hospitality professional with more than 20 years in the industry, is one of THS’ superheroes. Since joining THS as a task force professional in 2021, he has taken on a variety of assignments and earned a reputation for his likeable personality, strong work ethic, and dedication to mentoring others. As both a leader and co-worker, Dave believes in fairness and teamwork as the ways to achieve success.

Industry passion sparked early

Born and raised in Chicago, he moved to Michigan while in high school, where he joined a co-op work-study to learn some skills and make a little money. And it’s where he got his first taste of the hospitality industry as a hotel bellman. Encouraged by his uncle, who was in the business, and supported by a strong hotel team, he cross-trained in various positions. Recognizing that these opportunities exposed him to different people and cultures and realizing he liked helping navigate new environments sparked his passion for the industry and launched his career path.

“Honestly, this is one of the few fields that incorporates life skills in everyday work: patience, understanding, listening, empathy and problem solving, to name a few,” said Dave.

And they’re the same skills he applies in parenting. Dave is a proud father to three boys, ages 23, 17 and 13. While his task force assignments often take him on the road, he prioritizes spending quality time with his sons between assignments, taking fun trips or attending basketball games. A fan of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, he also loves Detroit Lions football, playing video games, listening to R&B and soul tunes and exploring new cuisines. His favorite indulgence? A perfectly cooked medium steak with shoestring potatoes.

Leading with optimism

Dave takes the lessons he learned from his early mentors, aspiring to always be a good person and treat others with respect. As a mentor now, he believes “good leaders make good leaders” and leads by example, jumping in wherever needed, treating every task as important (knowing that nothing is beneath him) and, most importantly, always treating others with kindness. Known for his “brutally optimistic” outlook, Dave’s glass half-full approach to life inspires those around him – it’s contagious!

The future looks bright

Dave dreams of one day owning his own boutique 60-room hotel in a college town like Ann Arbor, Michigan. For now, he continues to work in task force assignments and appreciates the support he receives from the THS team. When the day comes that Dave owns that hotel, THS will be ready to provide him the same stellar service that he provided to others!
